Hello, My name is Simon. Mom calls me Simon Theodore when she wants me to come, but my formal name is "Sweet-Pea Forever ~ Simon." Mom and Dad also call me Diamond Simon, Si-boy, Brother and Bubba.
I was born on June 2nd 1999 and I came to live in my forever home on August 2nd, 1999. My mom had been without a puppy dog to love for the first time in her life after her "Barney dog" went to the Rainbow Bridge and she cried everyday for a month. My dad bought me for my mom's birthday. My mom says I'm the best birthday present she has ever received! I think so too. :o)
My mom thinks now, looking back, that I was actually born in a puppy mill and the woman she got me from was a broker. Puppy mills are bad places and as more people become educated about them they will hopefully, one day, all be shut down. I am not the "Maltese standard" but my mom says she doesn't care because I am beautiful in her eyes.
I love my mom but I am very much a Daddy's boy. We like to go pal around & do boy stuff. He takes me bye-bye in the car which is one of my favorite things to do. Another favorite thing to do is play with my sisters Lily and Isabella and chase our cat, Zeb. Mom and Dad say not to chase the cat but sometimes I just can't help myself.
I had a rough start my first year. When I was 5 1/2 months old I started throwing up and was not able to keep my food down. My mom & dad were very worried and they kept taking me back to the vet but they couldn't find anything wrong. Finally they did some special X-rays & found out I had a stomach obstruction. They did emergency surgery and discovered I had a wad in my stomach from all the stuff I would pick up off the floor and eat. Mom says she should have named me Hoover or Kirby since I kept the floors vacuumed!
Then when I was 7 months old I was sitting in my mom's arms, nuzzling her neck and she heard this "chomp, chomp, gulp, gulp!" She reached up to her neck and her diamond necklace that my dad gave her their first Christmas together was gone! I had swallowed her diamond. Back to the vet we went. Everybody at the doctor's office laughed but mommy and daddy weren't laughing. She followed me around for days afterwards with plastic baggies watching me do my business. She never did find that diamond.
That's why they call me "Diamond Simon."
